This summer 2023  as in several summers past, I'm teaching 2 day classes at the Pacific NW Art School in Coupeville, WA near my home on scenic Whidbey Island.   The two classes I am offering are in making joomchi or felted paper and another, quite different class called "Improv and Abstraction" which  introduces students to using surrealist collage techniques popularized by the twentieth century Surrealists as well as the terrific artist and composer John Cage. We'll use tried and true randomness techniques to help us respond more freely to collage making and from there to develop small paintings.
